The An-Najah Career Unit held their 40th training course as part of a series of training courses with the theme “Being Prepared to Start Working.” The course is held by the unit on an ongoing basis in order to prepare and rehabilitate university graduates for the labor market. The director of the Career Unit, Rafe’ Daraghmeh says that the “Being Prepared to Start Working” course is in constant demand by university students. The students realize the benefit that can be obtained through courses of this nature as it teaches them many skills like how to prepare for work interviews, how to write curriculum vitas in both Arabic and English, learning how to save files and archives electronically and bureaucratically, writing formal letters in Arabic and English, identifying employee rights and duties in enterprises and companies, the importance of using computers and technology on the job, and how to keep up good interpersonal relationships with colleagues. Daraghmeh added that the session was attended by 37 students from various disciplines.
In addition Isra’ Zidan, who has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from An- Najah University, gave a lecture during the course on psychological preparation for post-graduates. She said that this lecture focuses on the skills to help graduates succeed in their lives. It also gives them the ability to self-manage and psychologically prepare for the unexpected things in life. The lecture’s aim was to help post-graduates avoid becoming deadlocked and despaired, to trust in God, have self-confidence, self-control, and self-motivation, to communicate well with others, and to set and pursue positive goals.
The training course occurred over a period of 2 weeks for a total of 20 learning hours. The Career unit held a graduation ceremony and those who participated in the course received completion certificates. Faten Mashaqi, a student from the Faculty of Law and Legislation said, “it gave us a new spirit and a new knowledge, even if we do not utilize what we have learned right away, we all know that we now have the skills that will enable us to serve high society and benefit ourselves." Hamadallah Ali, a student of Finance and Banking said “the topics of the session were very important and useful and I hope that this session will be mandatory in the future so the benefit can reach a larger audience.
